As I observe human behavior, it seems that some people, even believers, become more satisfied with their positions in life, with very little concern for their growth. Just as an eagle would never be satisfied to roost in a sparrow's nest, as committed Christians we are empowered by God to soar to new heights. Everyday is filled with challenges to move upward.

No, I'm not advocating a striving mentality, driven by vain ambition for more and more stuff. Rather, I'm encouraging you toward an attitude, marked by a believing faith and the resolute determination to live out the destiny God intends for your life. "For, I know the plans I have for you for good and not for evil; plans to prosper and bless you, giving you a future and hope." (Jer. 29:11 - paraphrased)

Sure, there are times when we need to slow the pace, rest, regenerate and renew. Then, we need to forge ahead with determination. The Apostle Paul said, "Forgetting those things which are behind, I press on toward the mark, of the high-calling, in Christ Jesus." We can't tune-out because of "past failures" or "past successes". Our lives are in process and are to bring glory to God, daily. Since it is a fact that we are all "under construction," spiritual growth isn't really an option.

It is a thrill to know that God has empowered us to reach new spiritual heights, just as an eagle soars to greater physical heights (Isa. 40:28-31). It's really a question of choice. Are you all that God wants you to be? Are you satisfied with your life-progress, with little consideration for your spiritual destiny? Are you growing spiritually?
